This publication does not give clinical advice. Nothing here diagnoses,
screens for or treats anything. We do not publish warning sign lists, because a list of that
kind invites a worried adult to reach a conclusion that only a clinician is in a position to
reach. If you have a question about a particular child, the people to ask are your
GP or health visitor,
or the special educational needs coordinator at the child's setting or school.
How we make money. Two declared lines, both visible on every page. Paid
listings for museums, libraries, learning organisations and children's cultural programmes,
published alphabetically, labelled as paid, sold on disclosed and verifiable facts, never
ranked and never scored. And a single labelled sponsor line in the newsletter, at a
published rate. We publish what we refuse to list at any price. We
recommend no toys, no books to buy, no courses and no products, we carry no affiliate links and
we run no advertising network, because recommending things to buy to parents is precisely the
incentive this magazine exists to sit outside.
On evidence. We describe what research supports and what it does not reach,
in words rather than borrowed numbers. We do not attribute findings to studies we cannot name,
we do not present an average age as a rule, and we treat a single result as a single result.
